In the name of God Amen, I John Fellowes the elder of the town and port of Hastings in the county of Sussex, mariner, being sick and weak in body, but of sound and perfect memory, praise be given to Almighty God for the same; and minding my mortality, do make and ordain this my last will and testament in manner and form following viz: First and principally I bequeath my soul into the hands of Almighty God , hoping through the merits and mediation of Christ Jesus my blessed saviour and redeemer to obtain full pardon and remission of all my sins and everlasting life in his kingdom of glory . And my body to Christian burial, according to the discretion of my executors herein after mentioned and as touching such worldly goods as God in his goodness has been pleased to bestow upon me, I bequeath and give the same as followeth viz: I give and bequeath unto my three children Robert Fellowes, John Fellowes and Elizabeth the wife of William Batchellour all my household goods, plate, money, bills, bonds parts of vessels or boats, nets, ropes and all manner of things whatsoever or wheresoever belonging to me, after the payment of my debts and funeral expenses to be equally divided among them individually after my decease, and if any of my three children shall happen to dye before my estate be thus equally divided as above said, then my will is that the children of my children so deceased shall have their part to be equally divided among them. Lastly I nominate and appoint my three children Robert Fellowes, John Fellowes and Elizabeth the wife of William Batchellour to be joint executors of this my last will and testament, which I declare to be my very last will and testament and do hereby revoke all former wills intended to be made by me; In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this twenty and sixth [-?-] day of June in the eleventh year of the reign of our sovereign Lord William the third by the grace of God of England, Scotland, France and Ireland, King, Defender of the Faith & c: Anno Dom: 1699.
