Will of Thomas Elgar of Steyning

This is the Will of me Thomas Elgar of Steyning in the County of Sussex wherein I give and bequeath unto William Marshall of Hurstpierpoint (my brother in law) in the County of Sussex his Executors administrators and assigns all my Personal Property goods chattels monies in the public funds (or elsewhere)plate linen and whatsoever other Personal Property I may be possessed of at the time of my decease (except as hereinafter excepted) I give and bequeath to my nephew William Marshall the son of William Marshall and Elizabeth Marshall his wife of Hurstpierpoint as aforesaid his Executors administrators and assigns all that messuage farm buildings gardens and all the premises thereto belonging situate lying and being in the Parish of Portslade in the County of Sussex and to me belonging and I also give and bequeath to my honest and faithful servant Ann Woolgar the daughter of Samuel Woolgar and Theodosia Woolgar his wife of Steyning in the County aforesaid twenty five pounds (lawful money of Great Britain) a year and every year during her natural life to be paid her in equal half yearly payments and the first payment to begon or to be made on the fifth day of January or the fifth day of July or such one of those days as may next happen or follow after my decease and I also hereby nominate constitute and appoint William Marshall the Elder of Hurstpierpoint as aforesaid or his assigns my sole Executor and residuary legatee dated this first day of October in the Year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and thirty one _ Thomas Elgar
