Will of Susan Lusher of Findon

In the name of God Amen the 12th day of Aprill 1687 I Susan Lisher of ye parish of ffindon in ye County of Sussex widow beinge weake of body but of sound & perfect memory (thanks bee to almighty God) but callinge to minde ye uncertainty of mans life doe make and declare this my last will & Testament in manner followinge

First I give and bequeath my soul into ye hands of almighty God ____ _____ beleiveinge _______ ye Death and bitter passion of my Savior Jesus Christ to have free pardon and remission of all my Sins and as for my body I _____ to bee buryed in a decent christianely manner.

And as for such worldly goodes & Substance as it hath pleased God to blesse mee with all I give & bequeath the same as followeth

First I give and bequeath to my brother John Bennett ye sum of forty pounds after my decease and to my brother William I give and bequeath twenty pound to be paid him within six monthes after my decease

to my brother Will[ia]ms child I doe give likewise twenty pounds to bee paid her without interest either att ye day of her beinge one and twenty years of age or att[ainin]g ye day of her marryage but in case the child dy then the said William her father shall have fifteen pound thereof and the other five pound to remaine to ye Ex[ecu]tor

I doe alsoe give to my brother William one ffeather bedd two bolsters and two pillows one blankett & Co[ver]lett five pair of sheetes & six peices of pewter

I doe alsoe give to my brother Will[ia]ms child my Wedding Ringe and my best peice of Gold I doe give to George Vaughan for ye trouble I have putt him too in my sicknesse ye old chest wherein my woollen C(l)oathes doe lye ye table forme & two joynt stooles that are in this house.

And last of all I doe give and bequeath to my brother John Bennett ye feather bedd with Curtaines & Valens with the appurtenances thereunto belonginge my biggest peice of Gold and all other my Substance unbequeathed I give unto him ye said John Bennett whom I doe alsoe make my Sole Ex[ecu]tor of this my last will and Testam[en]t revokinge all other wills In Witnesse whereof I have hereunto sett my hand & Seal ye day & year first above written./ the marke of Susan Lisher./ Witnesse att ye Sealing & Subscribing hereof Jo Mordant Ric. Nitingale Eliz.Downer her marke.

Will of Susan Lusher 1687 (ref. STCI/28/391 – WSRO). Susan "Lisher" of Findon was the widow of Thomas Lusher of Launcinge who wrote his will 7th September 1684 and who died in 1686.
