In the name of God Amend the Eight and twentieth day of January in the five and thirtieth year of the reign of our most gracious Sovereign Lord Charles the Second by the Grace of God King of England Scotland France and Ireland Defender of the Faith etc Anno Dni 1683 I William Langridge of East Grinstead in the County of Sussex gent., being in perfect memory do hereby publish and declare this to be my last Will and Testament in manner and form following (that is to say) first and principally I bequeath my soul unto Almighty God my Maker hoping assuredly through the only mercies and merits of Jesus Christ my Saviour and redeemer to have pardon and forgiveness of all my sins and as to my body I commit to the earth to be decently buried according to the discretion of my Executrix hereafter named Item I give and devise unto my two sons John Langridge and Richard Langridge and to my daughter Bridget Linfield two shillings and six pence apiece to be paid to them within three months after my decease Item I give and devise unto my two daughters Judith Langridge and Bridget Linfield and to their heirs and assigns forever All that my messuage or tenement now situate lying and being in the Borough and town of East Grinstead in the county of Sussex wherein I now live to have and to hold the said messuage or tenement barn burgage and Portland with the appurtenances thereunto belonging unto the said Judith Langridge and Bridget Linfield their heirs and assigns forever Item I give and devise unto my said daughter Judith Langridge and to her heirs and assigns forever All that my messuage or tenement garden orchard and backside now in the occupation of George Gander situate and being in the Parish of East Grinstead aforesaid to have and to hold the said messuage or tenement with the appurtenances unto the said Judith Langridge her heirs and assigns forever Nevertheless upon this condition and upon the further trust and confidence that she make sale of the same within two years next after my decease and what moneys that shall be made or be raised by the sale thereof my Will is that out of the same moneys my debts funeral charges and probate of this my Will shall be first paid and satisfied and what moneys shall remain and be behind after my said debts funeral charges and probate of this my will being satisfied I give and bequeath the remainder of the said moneys which shall be made by the sale thereof unto my said son Richard Langridge And as for all the rest and residue of my goods and chattels I give and bequeath unto my said daughter Judith Langridge whom I do hereby make my sole Executrix of this my last Will and Testament In witness whereof I the said William Langridge have hereunto set my hand and seal the day and year above written William Langridge sealed signed published and declared in the presence of us Robert Matthew, Stephen Rickword, Alex Luxford
