In the name of God Amen the fourth day of May in the year of our Lord One thousand seven hundred and twenty Robert Langridge of the Parish of East Grinstead in the County of Sussex yeoman being sick and weak in body but of sound and of perfect memory praise be given to God for the same And knowing the uncertainty of this life on earth and being desirous to settle things in order do make this my last Will Testament in manner and form following that is to say first and principally I commend my soul to Almighty God my Creator assuredly believing that I shall Receive full pardon and free remission of all my sins and be saved by the precious death of my blessed Saviour and Redeemer Jesus Christ And my body to the earth from whence it was taken to be buried in such decent and Christian manner as my executor hereafter named shall be thought met and convenient And touching such worldly estate as the Lord in mercy hath sent me and my will and meaning is the same shall be employed and bestowed as hereafter by this my Will is expressed And First I do revoke renounce frustrate and make void all Wills by me formerly made and declare and appoint this my last Will and Testament Imprimis I constitute make and ordain my Brother John Langridge Executor of this my last Will and Testament Item I give all my estate real and personal to be employed and made use of in bringing up of my children at the discretion of my executor before named and if anything remains afterwards to be equally divided amongst all my children and every one to have an equal share Item I desire that all my debts and funeral expenses be discharged and paid I desire William Humphrey and William Finch to be overseers of this my Last Will and Testament and to give each of them five shillings for their trouble I give and bequeath all my customary lands in the Manor of Dudleswell and Mersfield to my brother John Langridge to be sold and the money that is raised upon the sale thereof to pay my debts and bring up my children (the mark of Robert Langridge) Signed sealed delivered pronounced and declared in the presence of us John Burchear, John Awcock, James Dane
