Wagner's 'Underground' church, built largely underground to asuage local fears that the new church might rise to the heights of St Bartholomew's! The entrance led into a narthex in the form of a balcony overlooking the interior which consisted of a nave and north aisle. The whole of Russell Street was demolished to make way for the Churchill Square shopping complex.
