The church was founded by Wagner. Restored by Edmund Scott in 1886. Its spire, atop a short tower with dominant pinnacles, was similar to that on Chichester Cathedral. Interior destroyed by arson on 29th August 1978, declared redundant on 1st January 1981 and finally demolished despite attempts to save the exterior in 1982.
