ST. PETER. Restored 1876-8. Not far from the interesting remains of a Roman villa with three tessellated pavements, fragments of Doric bases, and tiles, is the E.E. church. It has a plain circular chancel arch built of large stones (early Nor. or Saxon) and lancet windows, at E. end long and recessed, with plain round window above. The chancel screen is later work (partly 14th century). Font, early Nor. There are some fine yew trees in churchyard. Reg. 1556.
