In the name of God Amen. The Tenth day of November in the eighteenth yeare of the Raigne of our Soveraigne Lord Charles the second by the grace of God Kinge of England Scotland ffrannce and Ireland defender of the faith etc Annoq D[omi]ni Chriti 1666 I Jane Markewicke of Hamsey in the County of Sussex widow being sicke of body but of good and p[er]fect memory (Almighty God bee praised) revokeing all former wills by mee at any time heretofore made, doe make and ordaine this my last will and ~ testament in manner and forme following (that is to say) ffirst I comend my soule into the hands of Almighty God my maker hopeing assuredly through the only merits of Jesus Christ my Saviour to bee made p[ar]taker of life everlasting / And I comend my body to the earth from ~ whence it came to bee buried at the discretion of my Executor hereafter named And touching the disposition of such worldly goods and p[er]onall estate wherew[i]th it hath pleassed Almighty God to blesse mee w[i]thall To the[e]nd no untimely contoversie variance or difference may happen after my decease to bee moved or arise concerning the same, And to th[e]end I may take care for the satisfying of my iust and due debts, and to reward such as I have found carefull of mee I dispose thereof as followeth.
Imprimis I give and bequeath to my eldest sonne Will[ia]m Markewicke of Laughton the sume of three pounds and one paire of sheetes
Item I give and bequeath to my youngest sonne ffranncis Markewicke the sume of ffive shillings
Item I give and bequeath to my daughter Anne now wife of Jasper Saunders the summe of three pounds and two paire of sheetes
Item I give and bequeath to my doaughter Mary the relicte of Samuel Hawkinge the sume of three pounds two paire of sheets one chest, one bell brasse postnet (?) and one bed coverlet
Item I give & bequeath to my grandchild Thomas Coppred only sonee of Thomas Copperd of the Sinder (?) in Chaily the sume of three pounds.
Item I give and bequeath to my grandchild Jane Copperd daughter of Nicholas Copperd deceased the sume of twenty shillings , one chest and one paire of sheetes
Item I give and bequeath to Anne Copperd daughter of the said Nicholas Copperd the sume of Twenty shillings
Item I give and bequeath to Mary Copperd daughter of the said Nicholas Copperd the sume of Ten pounds and one paire of sheets
Item I give and bequeath to my ~ grandchild Richard Copperd sonne of the said Nicholas Copperd the sume of Twenty shillings
Item I give and bequeath to my grandchilde Dorothy Copperd daughter of the aforesaid ~ Nicholas Copperd the summe of six pounds (vizt) Twenty shillings I give her by this my last will and testament, and the other five pounds w[hi]ch is remaining in my hands and w[hi]ch was awaded to her by the court after the decease of Richard Markewicke my late husband.
Item I give and bequeath all my weareing apparrell both linnen and woollen (excepting one blacke scarfe w[hi]ch I give unto the aforesaid Mary Copperd my grandchilde) to my three daughters Anne Mary and Dorothy to bee equally divided betweene them w[i]th[i]n one month nexte after my decease
all the other legacies herein menconed to bee given and bequeathed by mee my will and meaning is shalbee paid to the severall p[er]sons to whome I have given the same by my executor hereafter named w[i]th[i]n three months next after my decease.
All the rest of my goods chattells and p[er]sonall estate whatsoever (my debts and funerall expenses being discharged) I give and bequeath to my sonne in law Thomas Moore who I make ordaine constitute and appoint the sole Executor of this my last will and testament
In witnes whereof I have hereunto sett my hand and seale to this my last will and testament being Contyned in two shets of peper the day and yeare first above and written
