This is the last and testament of Richard Ade of Telscombe in the county of Sussex yeoman made the twentieth day of October in the year of our lord god one thousand six hundred and fifty and eight being (god be praised) of perfect sound memory though weak and sick of body, wherein after the bequeathing of my soul into the hands of almighty god my creator redeemer and my savour Jesus Christ my worldly goods I dispose of as followeth
Unto Mary my now loving wife I give all my household stuff as beds beddsteddles bedding tables stools cubboards linen woollen and household stuff within dores
Item if my said wife Mary happen to marry again I give threesome pounds of lawful money of England to be paid unto her within one month after her said marriage
Item to my sonne William Ade I give ten pounds of like lawful money to be paid unto him or his assigns within one quarter of a year after my decease
Item unto Mary the daughter of my said sonne William I give five pounds to be paid at the time aforesaid
All the rest of my good money chattels I give unto my sonne Richard whom I make and ordain sole and only executor of this my will and into that this is my last will and testament I have thus sett my hand and seal the day and year above written
