In the Nameof God Amen I JAMES BOTTING of WESTGRINSTED in the County of Sussex yeoman being in good Health of Body and of sound and Disposing Mind Memory and Understanding praised be Almighty God Do make and ordain this my last Will and Testament hereby revoking and making void all former Wills

Imprimis I give and bequeath unto my Daughter MARY the sume of Twenty Pounds of good and lawfull Money of great Britain to be paid unto her at her Age of one and Twenty by my Eldest son JAMES

Item I give and Devise unto my loving Friends RICHARD WOOLVEN of HENDFEILD in the County of Sussex yeom[an] and WILLIAM WOOLVEN of WESTGRINSTED aforesaid yeoman all that my Messuage or Tenement and Two shopps Orchard Garden & Five Acres of land be the same more or less lying and being at HANDCROSS in the Parishes of COCKEFEILD or SLAUGHAM one or both of them in the said County To hold the same unto the said RICHARD WOOLVEN and WILLIAM WOOLVEN theirs Heirs Exec[u]t[or]s Adm[inistrator]s or Assigns upon Trust that they the said RICHARD WOOLVEN and WILLIAM WOOLVEN or the Survivor of them or the Heirs Exec[u]t[or]s or Adm[inistrator]s of such Survivors shall and do receive the Rents Issues & Profits of the said Messuage or Tenement Shopps Land and Premises and pay and apply the same for and towards the Maintenance and Education of my said Daughter MARY untill She shall attain her Age of one and Twenty Years and from and immediately after my said Daughter MARY shall attain her said Age of one and Twenty Years Then I do give devise and bequeath the same Messuage or Tenement Shopps Land and Premises with their and every of their Appurtenances unto my said Daughter MARY her Heirs Exec[u]t[or]s Adm[inistrator]s or Assigns

Item I give and bequeath all the Linnen that I shall Dye possessed of unto my Three children JAMES JOHN and MARY to be equally divided between them share and share alike as son as conveniently it may be done after my Decease

Item all the Rest and Residue of my household Goods Utensils and Implements of Household of what sort and kind soever the same be I give and bequeath unto my Eldest son JAMES to be held Enjoyed and Disposed of by him as he shall think fitt as his own property Goods and Chattles for ever and I do make ordain and appoint my said Eldest Son JAMES Sole Executor of this my last Will and Testament and I do Desire my said Friends RICHARD WOOLVEN & WILLIAM WOOLVEN to be aiding & assisting to all my Children during their Minority & Do appoint them Guardians and Trustees of my said children during their Minority In Testimony whereof I the said JAMES BOTTING have to this my last Will and Testament set my hand and Seal the Twentieth Day of June in the Year of our Lord One Thousand Seven hundred and Twenty Eight – JAMES BOTTING – Signed Seled punlished and Declared by the said JAMES BOTTING the Testator as and for his last Will and Testament in the presence of us who likewise subscribed our Names as Witnesses in the presence of the said Testator THO PARHAM PERCY SHELLEY GEO CHEYNELL

This will was proved before Mr Thomas Bull Clerk Master of Arts Surrogate and so forth the Seventh day of June in the year of our Lord one Thousand seven hundred Thirty and Three by the oath of JAMES BOTTING natural and lawfull Son and Executor of the said Deceased and so forth to whom and so forth well and truly and so forth saving and so forth.
