In the name of god amen I JOHN JUPP of the parish of WEST CHILTINGTON in the County of SUSSEX yeoman well stricken in years but of good & perfect memory Thanks be to god for it doe make & ordaine this my last will and Testament in manner & forme following that is to say First and principally I com[m]it [my] soul into the hands of the Almighty God my Creator & Redeemer and my body to be buried in Christian burial in the parish Churchyard of CHILTINGTON aforesaid and as touching my worldly Estate & the disposing thereof my will is

Item I give & bequeath unto the poor of the parish of CHILTINGTON the sum of Twenty shillings to be paid by my Executor within One month after my decease. Item I give & bequeath unto SUSAN my loving wife Tenn pounds to be paid to her within six weeks after my decease Item I give more unto SUSAN my wife all the goods in the Inner Chamber & such goods as shall be necessary for her use

Item I give & bequeath unto my daughter MARY wife of MAURICE IRELAND Tenn pounds to be paid to her within six months after my decease

Item I give & bequeath unto SARAH wife of ROBERT EDMONDS Thirty pounds to be paid to her within six months after my decease

Item I give & bequeath unto my daughter JANE wife of WILLIAM STENING Tenn pounds to be paid to her within six months after my decease

Item I give & bequeath unto my daughter ANN JUPP the sum[m] of Fifty pounds Five & twenty pounds to be paid to her within Three months after my decease & the other Five & twenty pounds to be paid to her within Six months after my decease

Item I give & bequeath unto my son EDWARD JUPP the sum[m] of Thirty pounds t be paid to him within six months after my decease

Item I give & bequeath unto my Grandaughter SARAH EDMONDS the sum[m] of Three pounds to be paid to her at the age of Eighteen years or day of marriage wh[ich] shall first happen Item I give & bequeath unto my Grandaughter MARY EDMONDS Forty shillings to be paid to her at the age of Eighteen years or day of marriage wh[ich] shall first happen Item I give & bequeath unto my grandson JOHN EDMONDS Forty shillings to be paid to him at the age of Twenty years. Item my will and meaning is that if my son JOHN JUPP to whom my lands shall descend and come after my decease shall happen to die without an heir male of his own body lawfully begotten my will & meaning is that my said lands shall descend to my son EDWARD JUPP & his heirs for ever

Item I give and bequeath unto my son JOHN JUPP all my goods & chattles and household stuffe whatsoever unbequeathed after my debts and legacies and funerall charges are paid & discharged whom I doe make full & sole Executor of this my last Will & Testament. Lastly I desire my loving friend JAMES NAPPER of BILLINGSHURST to be overseer to this my last Will & Testam[en]t to aid & assist my Executor in the managing his affairs after my decease and for such trouble as he shall be at I doe give him Five shillings to be paid to him within Three months after my decease In Witness whereof I the said JOHN JUPP have hereunto sett my hand & seal the second day of DECEMBER the Eighth year of the Reign of our Sov[er]aigne Lord King William by the grace of God of England Scotland France & Ireland Defender of the Faith &c Annoq D[om]in]I 1696 JOHN JUPP Testator his marke & seal Signed sealed & published in the p[re]sence of JANE NALDRETT JAMES NAPPER
