G/3590 Sjt. A. J. Newnham, 9th Bn. , R. Suss. R. (Dane Hill, Sussex). For conspicuous gallantry on 21st March, 1918, when in charge of regimental transport. He went up five times in the day to brigade headquarters at Hesbecourt through heavy gas and H. E. bombardments.
