WE, the Ecclesiastical Commissioners for England, in consideration of a benefaction, consisting of a sum of two thousand and five hundred pounds four pounds per centum debenture stock of the Highland Railway Company, which has been transferred into our name for the benefit of the Minister or Incumbent for the time being of the district of Saint John the Evangelist, Copthorne, in the county of Sussex, and in the diocese of Chichester, do hereby, in pursuance of the Act of the twenty-ninth and thirtieth years of Her Majesty, chapter one hundred and eleven, section five, grant to the Minister or Incumbent of the said district of Saint John the Evangelist, Copthorne, and to his successors, to meet such benefaction, one yearly sum or stipend of fifty pounds, such yearly sum or stipend to be payable out of the common fund under our control, and to be calculated as from the day of the publication of these presents in the London Gazette, and to be receivable in equal half-yearly portions, on the first day of May and on the first day of November in each and every year: Provided always, that if at any time lands, tithes, or other hereditaments sufficient, in our opinion, to produce the said yearly sum or stipend, or any part thereof, shall be annexed by us to the said district, in substitution for such yearly sum or stipend, or for such part thereof, our liability for the payment of such yearly sum or stipend, or of such part thereof, as the case may be, shall thereupon and thereafter cease and determine.

In witness whereof, we have hereunto set our common seal, this twenty-first day of July, in the year one thousand eight hundred and eighty-one.
