Washington, (West Sussex)

Washington is known for Chanctonbury Ring, an iron age hill fort that was planted with a ring of beech trees.

It was once a Saxon settlement (Was inga tun, town of the sons of Wasa), and is located at the Findon gap, where the road to Worthing passes through the South Downs.

The church has a Perpendicular tower, with the rest of the building "modernised" by the Victorians.
