Notes:

Contributions to the cost of the church were made by William IV (£100) and Queen Adelaide (£50) and the church became well known for the long incumbency of the Rev. James Vaughan, 1838-1889. The building was a good example of an 'auditory church', with the pulpit dominating the east end - to the point of obscuring the pulpit. This arrangement was remodelled by Edmund Scott in 1886, when the interior was substantially re-ordered and the pulpit, reduced in size, was relocated to the south side of the chancel. The church was destroyed by a fire started by vandals in 1978.
