Harrison's description (1911):

ST JAMES. Restored in 1892, and N. transept built. The church is mainly early Nor.; the chancel and windows are Dec. Note: the blocked-up Nor. window in S. wall, and old oak roof. The wide segmental chancel arch is connected with a wall-arch in N. and S. walls, in which are inserted windows, that on the S. being probably a low-side window. On the internal jambs, note consecration crosses; also the curious arched recess above altar, There are two brasses, one to Thomas Selwyn (1539) and his wife Margery (1542); a fine mural monument to Nicholas Selwyn and his family, formerly owners of the Tudor mansion, Friston Place. Reg. 1546.
