Harrison's description (1911):

Restored in 1855. The church is built of flint with stone dressings, and is mainly E.E., with traces of earlier work. The tower is between the chancel and the nave; S. aisle rebuilt. The E. window was given by Sir Edward Burne-Jones, who also designed one in the N. of the chancel, representing St. Margaret, another in the S. of the Virgin, and two lancet windows, Jacob's Dream and the Ascent to Paradise. His body lies in the churchyard. William Black, the novelist, is also buried here. Note: corbel heads; un-pierced quatrefoil in a circle, which surmounts the exterior of the lancets at the E. end; remains of an old font (13th c.); blocked-up window; and priests' door in S. wall.
