Harrison's description (1911):

ST. MARGARET (or St. Mary?). Englarged in 1847-8; rebuilt in 1885-6. This church is chiefly E.E. Note: fine oak chancel screen; old hour-glass near pulpit. Font, square Nor. In the Caryll Chapel are remains of squint; monument to Sir John Caryll and his wife (1613). In the Shelley Chapel, now used as vestry, are some relics and a piscina; old stocks. The tower is at S.E. of church. Note: the half arches in N. aisle to support thrust of tower.

Percy Bysshe Shelley was born and passed his boyhood at Field Place.
