Harrison's description (1911):

ST. LEONARD. This little church, or the "church in the wood," is largely visited on account of its charming situation rather that for its architectural beauty. It is E.E. and has chancel, nave, and a low tower with the "Sussex Cap," as the low pyramidal spire is termed. Reg. 1636.
