With reference to the announcement of the undermentioned awards which appeared in the London Gazette of the 1st January, 1919, the following are the acts of gallantry for which the awards were made : DISTINGUISHED CONDUCT MEDAL. G/S/828 A. /Sjt. A. V. Coppard, 2nd Bn. , R. Suss. R. (Hurst Green, Sussex). He served with the battalion for over three years, and for the greater part of that, time was employed on the regimental scouts. At all times he did invaluable work. He carried out several patrols and brought back useful information, and his work and reports as an observer were of great assistance to his C. O. Both in and out of the line the work of this N. C. O. was examplary, and he set a fine example of gallantry and devotion to duty.
