Will of William Langrish of North Mundham

In the name of God Amen the third day of May in the yeare of our Lord God one thousand six hundred fifty foure I William Langrish of Fisher in the parish of Northmundam in the County of Sussex gentleman being weake in body but of perfect remembrance thanks be given unto God doe make and ordaeine this my last Will and testament in manner and forme following. First I bequeathe my soule into the hands of Allmighty God my creator hoping to be saved in and through the only merrits of Jesus Christ my most merciful Saviour and Redeemer. And my body to the earthe from whence it came to be decently buried at the discretion of my executors here under named. Item I give to the poor of the parish of Northmundam tenne shillings and to the poore of the parish of Bosham tenn shillings. Item I give and bequeathe to Richard Manning of the Cittye of Chichester in the County of Sussex Cittizen and marchant and unto John Smith of Vinitroe in the sayd County Gent and theire heires and assignes all that my one messuage or tenement barne and forty acres of arrable and pasture lands thereunto belonging be the same more or lesse scittuate lyeing and being in the parish of Bosham aforesaid and called Hamm with all wayes waters woods underwoods profitt comons comodities advantages and appurtenances whatsoever thereunto belonging to have and to hold the sayd messuage or tenement barne lands and premisses wth the appurtenances unto the sayd Richard Manning and John Smith theire heires and assignes for ever by them to be sould and the money that shalbe raysed upon sale thereof my meaning is shall goe towards the payment of such legacies as I doe give by this my will. Item I give to my sonne William Langrish the sume of one hundred pounds to be paied to him at his age of five and twenty yeares. Item I give and bequeathe to my sonne Richard Langrish one hundred and twenty pounds to be paied unto him at his age of three and twenty yeares. Item I give and bequeathe unto my sonne Samuell Langrish the sume of one hundred pounds to be paied unto him at his age of one and twenty yeares. And if Mary my wife be now wth child or shalbe wth child before my decease then I give to such child the sume of one hundred pounds to be paied to such child at its age of one and twenty yeares. Item I give to Mary my loving wife the sume of five pounds. And I give to my sayd wife all my household stuffe during her life. And after her decease I give the sayd household stuffe equally amongst such of my children as shall be then living at the time of my decease. Item I give to my cozen Anne Wingfeild five shillings. Item I give to the twoe children my wife hadd before I married her tenne shillings a peece. Item I give to Elizabeth Wing wife of Samuell Wing forty shillings. And further my will and meaning is that the rent profitt and benefitt that shalbe made of the sayd messuage lands and premisses before the same be sould and after the sale thereof the use benefitt and profitt of the money that shalbe made upon sale of the said messuage lands and premisses till the same be paied in discharge of the legacies given by this my Will shall goe towards the bringing up and placing forth of my children apprentices. And further my will and meaning is that when all the legacies given by this my will are paied and my children brought up and placed forth apprentices as aforesaid then the money that shall remaine of the mony to be made upon sale of the said messuage garne lands and premisses I give to my said sonne William Langridge. All the rest of my goods chattles cattles and personall estate whatsoever not before given nor bequeathed I give to the said Richard Manning and John Smith for the better enabling them to pay my debts and legacies whome I make full and whole executors of this my last Will and Testament. And I give unto them the sume of forty shillings a peece as a token of my love over and above all such money charge and trouble as they or either of them shall lay out or be putt unto in the execucon of this my will and in managing thereof or any other waies by reason of theire being named executors which my will and meaning is shalbe from tyme to tyme or either of them deduced out of my personall estate. In witnesse whereof I the said William Langrish to this my last Will and Testament have hereunto sett my hand and seale the day and yeare first above written 1654 by mee William Langrish.

This Will was proved at Westminster the one and twentith day of August in the yeare of our Lord God according to the computacon of the Churche of England one thousand six hundred fifty foure before the Judges for probate of Wills and granting administrations lawfully authorized by the oathes of Richard Manning and John Smith the executors named in the sayd Will to
