AT the Court at St. James's, the 7th of February, 1785, PRESENT, The KING's Most Excellent Majesty in His Privy Council. WHEREAS Toby Thatcher, of Hastings, in the County of Sussex, Mariner ; John Plain, of the same, Mariner; James Gray, of the same, Mariner ; Thomas Hutchinson, of the same, Mariner ; Mark Stamford, of the same, Mariner ; William Sinnock, of the same, Mariner ; Peter Jones, of the same, Mariner ; Pye Apps, alias Happs, of the fame, Mariner ; Jeremiah Croney, of the same, Mariner ; Francis Whattey, of the same, Mariner ; Richard Heaviston, of the same, Mariner; John Gravatt, of the same, Mariner; Benjamin Gravatt, of the fame, Mariner ; John Gibson, of the same, Mariner ; John Murphy, of the same, Mariner ; and William Eastbury, of the same, Mariner; were, upon the Twenty-eighth Day of January last, charged by Information of a credible Person upon Oath, by him subscribed, before Sir Sampson Wright, Knight, One of His Majesty's Justices of the Peace, with having been guilty, on the Eighth Day of November last, of being assembled on Board a Boat belonging to a Cutter called the Long Splice, then lying on the Shore, within the Limits of the Port of Shoreham, a Member of the Port of Chichester, and within the County of Sussex, and of aiding and assisting in Running and Landing certain uncustomed Goods, to wit, Brandy, Geneva, and Tea, at a Place near Long-Barn, in the Parish of Hove, in the said County of Sussex; and of being armed with Fire-Arms, and other offensive Weapons, and, being so armed, forcibly and violently hundred, obstructed, assaulted, opposed, and resisted, Thomas Tilstone, then being on board a Boat belonging to the Enterprize Cutter, in the Service of the Customs, and then and there being One of the Officers of the Customs in the Execution of his Duty, and thereby preventing the said Thomas Tilstone from making Seizure of the said Boat and Goods; which Information was afterwards, by the said Sir Sampson Wright, certified under his Hand and Seal, and returned to One of His Majesty's Principal Secretaries of State, who has laid the same before His Majesty in His Privy Council, pursuant to the Act of Parliament of the Nineteenth Year of his late Majesty King George the Second, in that Case made and provided : His Majesty doth, by and with the Advice of His Privy Council, by this His Order in His Privy Council, require and command, That the said Toby Thatcher, John Plain, James Gray, Thomas Hutchinson, Mark Stamford, William Sinnock, Peter Jones, Pye Apps, alias Happs, Jeremiah Croney, Francis Whattey, Richard Heaviston, John Gravatt, Benjamin Gravatt, John Gibson, John Murphy, and William Eastbury, and each of them, do surrender himself, and themselves, within the Space of Forty Days, after the Publication of this Order in the London Gazette, to the Lord Chief justice, or One other of His Majesty's Justices of the Court of King's Bench, or to One of His Majesty's Justices of the Peace.
