In the name of God Amen

The Seventh day of April in the year of our Lord one thousand Seven hundred and forty three I Mary Langeridge of Forrestrow in the Parish of East Grinstead Widow being very sick and weak in body but of perfect mind and memory thanks be to God for it do make and ordain this my last Will and Testament in manner and form following that is to say FIRST I give and bequeath my Soul to Almighty God and my body to the earth to be decently buried at the discretion of my Executor hereafter named and as touching such temporal state wherewith it hath pleased almighty God to bless me with in this life dismiss and dispose thereof as followeth

FIRST my debts and funeral charges be paid and discharged

Impremus I give and bequeath to my son John Marten 2 pounds

ITEM I give to my daughter Mary Mitchell 2 pounds and to be paid at the year end after my death and all the rest residue of my whole estate I give and bequeath to my son Richard Marten all my goods and all my chattels both within and without standing and lying or being any where I also give and bequeath to my son Richard Marten the farm late Turnners with all the appurtenances thereunto belonging likewise a farm called the Youtree at Forrestrow they are both situate in the Parish of East Grinstead in the County of Sussex and likewise a farm in Franfield upon lankest Wood and a field belongs to it joining to lankest Oak and all the appurtenances thereunto belonging so I give and bequeath to him all my whole estate real and personal and make him full and sole Executor of this my last Will and Testament I do hereby revoke disavow and make void all former Wills and Testaments made by me heretofore in witness whereof I the said Mary Langeridge to this my last Will and Testament containing one sheet of paper set my hand and seal of Mary Langeridge signed sealed published and declared by the above named Mary Langeridge for and as her last Will and Testament in the presence of us who subscribed our hands as witnesses in the presence of us

This Will was proved at London the Twenty second day of April in the year of our Lord One thousand Seven hundred and fifty one before the worshipful Andrew Coltee ………….. Doctor of Laws Surrogate of the Right worshipful John Belesworth Doctor of Laws Master Keeper of Commissary of the Prerogative Court of Canterbury lawfully constituted by the oath of Richard Marten the son of the deceased and sole executor named in the said Will to whom administration was granted of all and singular the goods chattels and credits of the said deceased being first sworn duly to administer
