In the name of God Amen I Anne Durand of the Citty of Chichester in the County of Sussex widdow being of perfecte memory thancks bee given to Almighty God doe ordayne and make this to bee my last will and Testament in manner and forme following. First I bequeath my soule to my Savyour Christe Jesus myne onely Redeemer in whose merits I faithfully beleeve to have remission of all my sinnes and wicked offences. I will that my body shalbee buryed nere to my husband. Item I give unto the Cathedrall Church of Chichester twelve pence. Item my will is that myne executors and theire assignes shall have full power and lawfull authority to give graunt enfeoffe sell and convey sell myne howse where in I now dwell and all gardens and appurtenances to the same apperteyning unto any pson whomsoever it shall please him or them and the survivor of them to give graunt enfeoffe sell or convey the sayd howse wth theire appurtenances hoping they and every of them will deale faithfully for mee according to this true meaning of my last will. And the money thereof comming and amounting unto to bestow in such manner and forme as is hereafter in this my last will limitted and appoynted. Item my will and meaning is and I doe by these psents give and bequeath unto myne eldest sonne Thomas Durand forty pounds because I have many other children and know not wch way to bestow any thing on them but by the sale of my said howse gardens and appurtenances which forty pounds yf my sayd sonne Thomas shall not kindly accept as my legacy but shall goe about by any meanes to molest or trouble my said executors or any of them or any pson touching any legacy given by the will then my will and meaning is that this legacy bequeathed as is aforesaid shall remayne and come to my three sonnes John, William and Michaell equally to bee devided amongst them by myne executors. Item I give and bequeath to John my sonne tenn pounds. Item I bequeath to Michaell my sonne ten pounds. Item I give and bequeath to William my sonne ten pounds. Item I give and bequeath will to Joane my daughter twenty pounds. Item I give to my daughter Cicely twenty pounds. Item I give to my daughter Cicely the bed steddle over the kitchin wherein I now lye. Item I give to Joane my daughter the bed steddle and the bed and the furniture as now it is in the parlour. Item I give to the same Joane one table and the six stooles in the hall. Item I give to Cicely my daughter one square table in the chamber over the kitchen and six joyned stooles in the parlour. And to the same Cicely I give two chayres one in the hall and thother in the chamber over the kitchin. Item I will to Elizabeth Lee my daughter my cauldron. Item I give to my grandchilde Anne Lee six diaper napkins. Item I give to my daughter Joane one long diaper table cloth and six diaper napkins one square diaper table cloth one holland table cloth and six table napkins. Item I give unto my daughter Cicely one long diaper table cloth one square diaper table cloth and six diaper table napkins and holland table cloth. Item I give unto my daughters Joane and Cicely all the lynnen in a ioyned chest over the kitchin and to Joane the chest where the same lynnen is and the box at the bed feete where I lye. Item I give to Cicely my daughter my great chest standing by my beds side and one square box under the window in the same chamber. And yf it fortune my said sonne Thomas to dye and depart this life before mee then I will the said forty pounds to him bequeathed to remayne to my sonne John, Michaell and William and to the survivor of them equally to bee devided amongst them by myne executors. Item I give to Joane my daughter the cubboard in the hall but my meaning is it shalbee solde wth the howse and the price thereof being prised by it self to remayne to my said daughter Joane. Item I give to my daughter Cicely the cubbord in the kitchin. Item I give to my mayde Alice Acosten my best fustyan wast coate. Item I give to Joane my daughter my great brasse pott my chaffer? my brasen chaffing dish my olde skimmer an old brazen ladle and one iron pott. Item I give and bequeath to Cicely my daughter a little brasse pott my great pewter pott and the great pewter platter upon the cubboard. Item I will to Joane my daughter the great charger in the buttry. Item I give to my said daughters Joane and Cicely to every of them half a dozen of pewter and to each of them foure pottingers. Item I give to Elizabeth Lee my daughter myne iron kettle. Item I give to Joane and Cicely my daughters to each of them a brazen kettle. The rest of my pewter and brasse unbequeathed I give to my three sonnes John, William and Michaell to bee equally devided. Item I give to John a truckle bed sheetes and a flock bed. Item I will to my sonnes William and Michaell to each of them a feather bed and to every of them two payre of sheets. Item I will the same Michaell a fayre table cloth of hempen stuffe and eight table napkins. And to the said sayd William my sonne I give will a fayre table cloth of hempen stuffe and eight napkins of myne owne ...nyng. Item I give to John my sonne one table cloth and six napkins. Item I will to Cicely an iron dripping pan. Item I will to Joane my daughter a new dripping pan and two andirons in the parlor. Item I will to my daughter Cicely two andirons in the hall and two andirons in the kitchin. And to each of them my said daughters Joane and Cicely the pott hangers ......... ........... and make each of them an .... Item I give to Thomas Holland myne iron prong. And I will to John Smith my sonne in law my seive? Item I will to each of my said daughters Joane and Cicely ............ And to each of them a rugg. Item I will to Joane my daughter two lowe stooles of silke in the hall. Item to Cicely my daughter two ioyned low stooles and one side cubboard in the hall, Item I give to Elizabeth Lee my daughter five pounds. And to her children five pounds equally to bee devided by myne executors vizt to my Goddaughter Anne Lee forty shillings. And three pound amongst the other three. I doe by these ordayne make and appoynt my trusty and welbeloved friends John Extan of Chichester Alderman, Thomas Farrington of Chichester and Henry Colbrooke of the same Cittie ..... and ......... executors of this my last will. And I them and every of them for their paynes five shillings a peece. Item I give unto my sonne Thomas his now childe twenty shillings. Dated and given under my hand and seale the three and twenty day of November 1617. Anne Durand her marke.

Sealed and delivered as my last will and Testament in the psence of This is a Codicill annexed. And further it is my true meaning and will that yf the howse aforesaid cannott bee solde at such a rate as will pay the said sev’all somes of money given by this my Will (excepting the forty pounds to Thomas my sonne) my debts and funeralls discharged then my will and meaning is that there shalbee such abatement out of the sayd monyes (except before excepted) as to my sayd executors shalbe thought most fitt. And for the rest of my goods unbequeathed my debts and funeralls discharged my will is shalbee solde and the monyes thereof coming to bee equally devided amongst my sonnes John, Michaell and William. Dated the seven and twentith day of November 1617. And moreover my will and meaning is that notwthstanding any thing conteyned in my Will before written or Codicill thereunto annexed my executors of trust before named nor any of them shall putt in any bond or security for the pformance of this my last will and Testament but so farre forth as in mee lyeth I doe release them of any such bond hereafter to bee taken for the pformance hereof but my trust in them reposed and the confidence wch I have in them shalbee sufficient in this behalf. In witnes whereof I have to this Codicill and post script last above written sett my hand and seale also the seventeenth of November aforesaid 1617. Anne Durand her marke.
