In the Name of God Amen I William Yalden of Lodsworth in the County of Sussex being aged & not likely by course of nature to continue long in the world and not knowing the tyme of my visitation and departure out of this Life and being now in health and perfect memory doe the second day of June one thousand six hundred fifty and one make and write with my owne hand this my Last Will and Testament in manner and forme following that is to say first I give and bequeath my Soule into the hands of almighty God my maker trusting through the merits of Jesus Christ yet to be saved and my body I committ to the Earth Item I towards the repayreing of the high church of Chichester five shillings Item I give and bequeath towards the repayring of the churches of Lodsworth and Lurgassall Twentie shillings a peece Item I give to the poore of the parish of Lodsworth five pounds Item I give to the poore of Lurgassall five pounds Item I give to the poore of the parish of farnhurst three pounds to be all distributed by my Executor as hee shall thinke fitt I give and bequeath to Margarett Yalden my Loveing wife two hundred pounds over and above her dower or thirds out of all my free lands which I shall dye seized of or doth any way belong to her Item I give unto her the said Margarett my wife the best bed in my house with all furniture thereunto belonging Item I give and bequeath unto her my said wife such and so much Lynen at her choice as shalbe worth tenne pounds Item I give unto her the said Margarett my wife such and soe much Iron vessels brasse and pewter at her Choice as shalbe thereby worth five pounds Item I give and bequeath unto John Yalden my sonne and to all my six Daughters tenne pounds a peece having already paid unto them all their severall marriage portions which I gave them Item I give to all my Grandchildren now borne fortie shillings a peece All the rest of my goods unbequeathed my debts payed and these Legacies performed I give unto William Yalden my eldest Sonne which William I make Executor of this my last Will and Testament and have here unto sett my hand and seale in the Presence and Witness of
