Will of John Wecks of Warbleton

In the name of god amen……. being sick in body but of good and perfect memory do ordain and make this my testament concerning therein my last will in manner and form following. First I will and bequeath my soul into the hands of Almighty God my maker believing and trusting that by the merits of and worthiness of the death of his son Jesus Christ my only saviour and redeemer to be partaker of the Kingdom of Heaven and to have a joyful resurrection both of body and soul to eternal life and I will my body to the earth from whence it came and to be buried in the earth in the churchyard of Warbleton.

To the poor of the parish 6s 8d.

To Bartholomew my son £20 of good and lawful money of England to be paid within one ……. immediately after my decease.

To Marjorie my eldest daughter £20 also to be paid within one …….immediately after my decease.

To Elizabeth my youngest daughter ?£20 at age of twenty-one years or at the day of her marriage.

To Agnes Tomlyn my maid servant my red hawked cow called Coppe horn to be delivered unto her by my executrix immediately after my decease.

All the residue of my goods and chattels my debts and legacies paid and my children brought up in the fear of God by my executrix I will and bequeath to Alice my wife.

John Howebeme and William Stace alias Sheather to whom I will for their payment 3s 4d apiece they my overseers to have …... children to the age of twenty-one years or marriage.

They to benefit of the sum of £20 during the time of twenty-one years …. son to have government of children.
