Will of William Austen of Warbleton

In the name of God Amen &c. Sick in body but of good and perfect remembrance thanks be to Almighty God. First and principally I give and bequeath my soul into the hands of Almighty God my maker and redeemer and my body to be buried in the churchyard of Warbleton or where it shall please God.

To the poor man's box 6d.

To Margaret Austen my daughter one feather bed, one bolster of the best.

To Alyce Austen my daughter one iron pot and a pair of the best canvas sheets and the best chest saving one and two ewe tegs with lambs.

To John my son my brass pot and a joined chest and a pair of good canvas sheets.

To Johne my daughter two old tegs also I will that if Alice my daughter fortune to die that her part remain to Margaret my daughter.

Bequests to be delivered immediately after decease.

To Rafe ......... a leather ………. for him and my best russet hose and best hat.

Residuary legatee and executrix wife Catheren who shall discharge and enter into bonds to discharge the parish of the child that Katheren Batchelor is with ….... if it fortune to live and also to see it well and honestly brought up with the said goods.

Overseer, John Oliver. I will that John Oliver shall have and take all the goods of mine executrix and discharge and perform this my present will to the bringing up of the said child and of my children.
