Will of Richard Snoode of Warbleton

Date signed: 26 May 1596, Probate date: 09 Mar 1597

In the name of god amen Anno domini 1596 the six and twentieth day of May ….. the reign of Elizabeth the xxxviij I Richard Snoode of the parish of Warbleton ..... sick in body but in good and perfect remembrance thanks be to Almighty God do make and ordain this present last will and testament in this manner and form following

First I give and bequeath my three children Richard my son £10 Elizabeth and Mary £6 13s 4d apiece to my daughters. If any of my said children do die the one to be the others heir …... put to the best ……. and my son to have it at the age of twenty-one years and my said daughters at the day of their marriage or at one and twenty which of them shall first happen.

Item my very will is that my said wife shall have the use and occupying of my said bequests and legacies until they accomplish the said ages before specified.

Item I will that if it fortune my wife to marry before my children come to the said ages that then my will is that he or she with whom she shall marry shall put in lawful and sufficient bonds unto my said overseers of and for the bequests of my foresaid children for their use and if he or she refuse to enter in bond my will is that then my overseers shall receive and take into their hands the said legacies.

Item I give and bequeath unto Mary my wife whom I ordain and make my sole executrix all the residue of my goods not before given nor bequeathed to see this my will to be performed and my debts and legacies faithfully to be paid.

Item I will and ordain and make mine overseers of this will and testament John SAXBY of Wartling and Thomas Bread of Warbleton to see this will be instantly and duly performed. John Saxpes.
