Will of Richard Fawtrell of Warbleton

In the name of God amen, the ninth day of January in the year of our lord god a thousand five hundred seventy I Richard FAWTRELL of the parish of Warbleton in the county of Sussex yeoman and within the diocese of Chichester being sick of body but whole of mind and of perfect remebrance thanks be to Almighty God do ordain and make this my last will and testament in manner and form following

First I bequeath my soul to Almighty God my maker and to Jesus Christ my redeemer and saviour trusting to be saved by the merit of his death and passion and by no other means and my body to be buried in the parish church of Warbleton.

Item I will that my executrix shall bestow at my burying at her discretion 12d.

Item I will to Goddard FAWTRELL my brother's son to be delivered within one month after my decease one lamb.

Item I will to Godlye my wife my house all the downe and the land to the farm belonging and also my tenements called Stolyans and White Bouche immediately for life if she will garnish my house at the Downe within four years after my decease provided always if Godlye my wife do not …... my house within four years after my decease

Item I will that John AKERST of Sprennge Hawe and Edward AKERHURST his son shall take the profit of the said house and land until Richard my son cometh to the age of twenty-one years and they to garnish the house with the .profit of the said land and she to have it no longer. Item I will to Godly my wife the profit of my house and land that I dwell in till Richard FAWTRELL my son come to the age of twenty-one years furnishing the barn and keeping the reparations of the house.

Item I will to Richard my son £6 13s 4d to be paid by my executrix when he cometh to the age of twenty years. I Item I will if Richard my son do fortune to die before he come to the age of twenty years then I will Goddard FAWTRELL the son of Goddard FAWTRELL my brother £6. 13s. 4d. to be paid, to the same Goddard at such time as it shall have been paid to my son if he had lived.

All the residue of my good cattells unbequeathed my debts and legacies paid I will to Godly my wife whom I do make my sole executrix of this my last will and testament And also I ordain John FARMER to be my faithful and trusty overseer of this my last will and testament. Item I will if Godly my wife do fortune to marry before Richard my son come to the age of twenty years that then she to enter into sufficient bond to my overseer for the payment of the £6 13s 4d provided always that if she do not wish to enter into bonds item it shall be lawful for my overseer to put the sum in execution of the law at his cost and charges and he to have for every days travelling thereabout 8d.

Witnesses at the delivering of this my last will and making thereof John LEVIT John FARMER Roger ELYOT with others.
