Will of John Willard of Warbleton

In the name of God amen &c. I John Willard of the parish of Warbleton …... being sick in body &c.

First I bequeath my soul to God Almighty and my body to the earth.

Item and give and bequeath to the poor of the parish of Warbleton 12d.

Item I give and bequeath to Daniell WILLARD my son the best cow.

Item I give and bequeath to Abraham WILLARD my son a cow.

Item I give and bequeath to Joan GOWER the wife of William GOW£R a cow.

Item I give and bequeath toward the bringing up of Agnes WILLARD my daughter a ewe and two sheep and the said child and ewe and two sheep to be disposed by my overseers as they shall think meet.

Item I give and bequeath unto Daniell WILLARD my son all this my house and lands within the parish of Warbleton upon this condition that he shall pay unto Abraham WILLARD my son £6 13s 4d within four years after my decease and further my will is that if Daniell my son refuse to pay the foresaid sum of £6 13s 4d then the said Abraham my son to have all the house and lands and to pay to Daniell my son £20 within five years after my decease.

Item I give and bequeath unto my three children that is to the said Daniell WILLARD Abraham WILLARD and Johan GOWER fifteen pieces of pewter of the best sort eight pewter platters and seven pewter dishes three of the greatest kettles two brass …... pots a posset of brass a latten chafing dish two little kettles of iron one iron pot four latten candlesticks a canvas bed stuffed with feathers two bolsters of feathers five sheets one coverlet one blanket three chests one cupboard two pairs of pothangers and one great joined chest which is standing at my house called Goldes and my will is that it shall remain to the house for my heir all these things before rehearsed the great chest only excepted.

Item my will is that Daniell WILLARD and Abraham my two sons shall have all my apparel. All the rest of my good my bequests my debts paid my legacies performed my children brought up I give unto Godly my wife whom I make mine executrix and if Godly my wife refuse to prove my will and do it not within fifteen days after my decease I ordain and make John WILLARD my brother my executor of this my last will and he to have all such goods as are not bequeathed in this my last will and my brother John WILLARD to give Godly my wife £6 13s 4d and she not to meddle with any of my goods and my brother to pay my debts and legacies. Item I ordain and appoint my trusty overseers John WILLARD of Heathfield my brother and Richard FULLER cooper and they to have for their pains 3s 4d either of them and all their charges beside whatsoever they shall happen to be at to be paid to them by my executor.
