Will of William Wymble of Warbleton

In the name of God amen, the eighteenth day of April in the year of our lord god 1579 I William Wymble of the parish of Warbleton in the county of Sussex husbandman being sick and weak in body but of good and perfect remembrance thanks be to Almighty God do ordain and make and declare this my testament in manner and form following, First I will and bequeath my soul unto the hands of Almighty God my maker believing and trusting that by the merit and worthiness of the death of his son Jesus Christ my saviour and redeemer to be partaker of the kingdom of heaven and to have a joyful resurrection both of body and soul to eternal life and therefore I will my body to Christian burial.

Item I will and bequeath to the poor men's box being of the parish of Warbleton 4d.

Item I will and bequeath to Agnes my wife three kine that is two motley and a red and two young bullocks that is one twoyearing motley heifer and one twelvemonthing heifer of the same colour with two hogs with all that my household things that I have at this time. Also I do will to Agnes my wife all that my corn this side of the highway.

Item I will and bequeath to Richard WIMBLE my eldest son all my raiment and my ……. but my will is that my wife and John my son shall have the occupation of the house for the twelvemonth and he likewise in his necessity.

Likewise I will to Abraham my son a black white-faced heifer being a twelvemonthing.

Item I will to Richard POOKE my son-in-law a weaning heifer bullock being at this present weaned.

All the residue of my goods corn and cattell whatsoever unbequeathed my debts and legacies paid I will and bequeath unto John WIMBLE my son whom I do make my sole executor of this my last will.

And also I do request my neighbour John HOWELL to do so much as to be my overseer and he to have for his charges whensoever he shall travel about this my last will and to be paid by mine executor from time to time.
