Will of Richard Aylwin of Trotton

In the name of God Amen I Richard Aylwin the elder of Trotton in the County of Sussex farmer being indisposed in body but of sound and perfect mind and understanding (praised be God for the same) do make and declare this to be my last Will and Testament in manner and form following (that is to say). First and principally I commend my soul into the hands of Almighty God hoping to be saved by and through the merits death and passion of Jesus Christ my only Saviour and Redeemer . And my body I commit to the earth to be decently buried at the discretion of my executor herein after named. And as to the settling that worldly estate wherewith it hath pleased Almighty God to bless me I give and dispose of the same as followeth (that is to say) Imprimis I give and bequeath unto my son Robert Aylwin over and besides what money he now is or shall or may be indebted to me at the time of my decease the sum of five hundred pounds of lawful money of Great Britain to be paid him by my executor herein after named at the end of twelve months next after my decease. Item I give and bequeath unto my daughter Mary the wife of Richard Randoll of Froxfield in the County of Southampton yeoman over and besides what I have already given her the sum of five hundred pounds of like lawful money to be paid her by my executor herein after named at the end of twelve months next after my decease. Item I give and bequeath all the rest and residue of my moneys goods chattels and personal estate whatsoever and wheresoever after payment of my debts legacies and funeral expences unto my son Richard Aylwin. And I do constitute and appoint him my said son Richard Aylwin sole executor of this my last Will and Testament. In witness whereof I the said Richard Aylwin the testator have to this my last Will and Testament set my hand and seal the seventeenth day of September in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and sixty seven. This Will was proved at London the thirtieth day of October in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and sixty seven before the Right Worshipfull George Hay, Doctor of Laws, Master Keeper or Commissary of the Prerogative Court of Canterbury lawfully constituted by the oath of Richard Aylwin the son of the deceased and sole executor named in the said Will to whom administration was granted of all and singular the goods chattels and credits of the said deceased he having been first sworn by Commission duly to administer
