Will of John Rollason of Ticehurst

Date signed: 01 Oct 1842, Probate date: 28 Jul 1852

This is the last will and testament of me, John Rollason of the Parish of Ticehurst in the County of Sussex. First I will and direct that all my just debts, funeral and testamentary expenses be fully paid and satisfied Then I give and bequeath unto my executors hereinafter named all and every my personal estate and effects, a silver watch, monies and securities for monies wheresoever being and of whatsoever discription, in trust to be by them, my said executors applied in the manner following. I give and bequeath unto my brother Thomas Rollason now residing at Riverhill in the Parish of Seven Oakes in the County of Kent, four fifths part or share of my said personal estate and effects and I do give and bequeath the remaining one fifth part or share of my said personal estate and effects unto my nephew George Brett, a milkman and now residing at St. Leonards near the town of Hastings in the County of Sussex to be paid to them by my said executors as early as may conveniently be after my decease and also I do give and bequeath my silver watch not before given, unto my nephew John Rollason son of Thomas Rollason above named to be by my said executors delivered to him as soon as may be after my decease and in case the whole of my said personal property, monies and securities for monies cannot all be recovered that they my said executors do divide such of my personal property and effects as shall be recovered in the manner above given and I do hereby give and bequeath the same accordingly and I also will and direct that my said executors, out of my estate and effects shall provide for my interment a inner coffin commonly called a shell to be enclosed in a outer coffin and also to erect, to my memory a head and foot stone with such inscription as they may think proper and that the place of my interment to be in the burial ground of the Parish in which my decease shall take place unless otherwise directed by a wish directed by me before my decease and I do hereby constitute and appoint Thomas Rollason now residing at Riverhill before mentioned in the County of Kent and Richard Carrick now residing at Three Ley Cross in the Parish of Ticehurst in the County of Sussex joint executors to this my last will and testament and I do declare that neither of them shall be answerable for any greater portion of my said property than shall actually come into their hands or possession nor to any loss which may happen to my said property unless through their own wilful neglect nor shall they be accountable one for the other and further that my said executors or trustees shall and may reimburse themselves and each other out of my said property all costs and expenses which they may be put to by virtue of the trust hereby in them reposed together with a reasonable allowance for their journeys, trouble and loss of time in and about the same and lastly I do hereby revoke all former wills and codecils by me and any time heretofore made and do hereby publish and declare this to be my last will and testament contained in these two sheets of paper. In witness whereof I the said John Rollason the testator have hereunto subscribed and set my hand and seal to wit my hand to the first sheet of paper and my hand and seal to the last sheet of paper this first day of October in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and forty two

The writing contained in this and the preceeding sheet of paper was signed and sealed by the above named John Rollason the testator and by him published and declared as and for his last will and testament in the presence of us who have hereunto subscribed our names as witnesses thereto in his presence and in the presence of each other this first day of October in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and forty two
