Will of John Arnell of Selsey

Date signed: 15 Jul 1841, Probate date: 01 May 1844

This is the last Will and Testament of me John Arnell of Selsey in the County of Sussex farmer whereby in the in the first place I appoint my brothers Charles Arnell and Edward Arnell my executors. And I give and devise my undivided fourth part or share of and in the copyhold or customary messuage or dwelling house buildings garden land and hereditaments [two lines of interlined text – too out of focus to read. DW] if any unto and to the use of my said brothers Charles Arnell and Edward Arnell their heirs and assigns for ever in equal undivided moieties as tenants in common. And I give and bequeath all my monies securities for money and all other my personal estate of what kind or nature soever unto and equally between the said Charles Arnell and Edward Arnell their executors and administrators chargeable nevertheless and I hereby charge and make liable my said copyhold or customary estates as well as my said personal estate with and to the payment of my just debts and my funeral and testamentary expenses and the legacy or sum of forty? pounds to my sister Fanny Sherwoten?, widow the like sum to my sister Ann the wife of Stephen Saunders and the like sum to my brother Mark Arnell. And I give and bequeath the said legacies accordingly and I direct that they shall be paid at the end of six calendar months after my decease free of duty and all expenses whatsoever. In witness whereof I the said John Arnell have to this my last Will and Testament set my hand this fifteenth day of July in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and forty one. This Will was proved on the 1st May 1844 before the Revd Wm Miller, Clerk, Surrogate on the oaths of Charles Arnell and Edward Arnell, brothers of the testator and executors named therein to whom a day was given for exhibiting an inventory &c
