Harrison's description (1911):

The old parish church of St. Mary (about two miles from the village) was built in latter part of 14th c., but was demolished in 1868, with the exception of the chancel, which is now used for burial and occasional services. There is a monument with effigies of John Lews and his wife (1537). The material of the old church was used in building the new church of St. Peter, which has the old font (late Nor.), Elizabethan chalice and 18th c. paten. Reg. 1662.
