In the name of God Amen this xixth day of July in the yeare of our Lord God one thowsand six hundred and seaventeene. I Humfrey Durrant of Rudgeweeke in the County of Sussex pott founder beinge sicke in body but of good and perfect memory thankes be unto Allmightie God therefore doe make and ordeyne this my last will and testament in manner and forme followinge. First I bequeath my soule into the hands of Allmightie God my Creator on whose mercie through the meritts of Jesus Christ myne onelie Saviour and Redeemer I repose my whole truste and confidence. And my body to be buried in the church yarde of Rudgeweeke at the discretion of myne executrix. And touching my goods and chattells I doe dispose of them in this manner. Inprimis I give unto the poore people of Rudgeweeke three shillings fowre pence. Itm I give and bequeath unto my fowre brethren Richard Durrant, Anthony Durrant, John Durrant and Francis Durrant eache of them twelve pence a peece. Itm I doe give and bequeath unto my three sisters Katharyn, Martha and Elizabeth eache of them twelve pence a peece. Itm all the residue of my goods and chattells unbequeathed I do give and bequeath unto Joane my wife whome I make and ordayne sole executor of this my last will and testament. Itm I doe make and ordeyne supvisors of this my will my lovinge freinds John Thayer of Slinfould and Edward Tonlett of Rudgeweeke. And I doe give unto eache of them for theire paines two shillings.
