In the Name of God Amen the twentieth day of July in the Eighth Year of the Reigne of our Soveraign Lord George the second Defender of the ffaith and so forth and in the Year of our Lord One thousand Seven hundred thirty and four I Castell Mellersh of the Parish of Rogate in the county of Sussex Yeoman being infirme in Body but of sound and perfect mind and memory praised be God therefore and renouncing all former Wills by me made doe hereby make ordaine and declare this to be my last Will and Testament in manner and forme Following (that is to say) ffirst and principally I commend my Soul into the Hands of Almight God my Heavenly maker and of Jesus Christ his Son my only Saviour & Redeemer by whose merits and passion I hope to be saved and to inherit Eternal life in his Heavenly Kingdome And my Body I will to the Earth to be buried in Christian Burial at the discretion of my Executrix hereinafter named And as touching my Temporal Estate wherewith it hath pleased Almighty God to bless me I give and dispose of the same as followeth And first I make constitute and appoint my loving Wife Joan Mellersh Sole Executrix of this my last Will and Testament Alsoe (after my just Debts ffuneral Expences and probate of this my last Will and Testament are first paid and discharged I give and bequeath unto my said Wife Joan Mellersh the use of all the rest residue and remainder of all and Singular my moneys Stock Goods and Chattells and Personall Estate whatsoever and wheresoever for her life and the better to enable her to bring up my Children and from and immediately after the Death or Decease of my said Wife I give and bequeath all the rest residue and remainder before herein mentioned of all and singular my moneys Stock Goods and Chattells and Personall Estate whatsoever and wheresoever unto my Sons and Daughters William Mellersh Castell Mellersh John Mellersh Mary Mellersh Sarah Mellersh Thomas Mellersh and Elizabeth Mellersh to be Divided equally among them Share and Share alike Alsoe I desire and appoint my Brother in Law John Stapler of Midhurst in the County aforesaid Tallow Chandler to be Overseer of this my Will to see the same duly performed In Witness whereof I the said Castell Mellersh the Testator have to this my last Will and Testament Set my hand and Seal the Day and Year first above Written Castell Mellersh
