In the name of god Amen at PULBROUGH the first daie of November in the yeare of o[ur] Lord god 1566 I JOHN HUMFREY of STYLEHOWSE in the p[ar]ishe of PULBROUGH beinge sycke of bodie but hole of mynde and p[er]fecte remembrance thanks be to almyghtie god doe ordaine and make this my Last Will and Testame[n]t in man[ner] and forme followinge First I bequeath my Sowle to almyghtie god my maker, redemer and comforter and my bodie to the earth.

It[e]m I geve and bequeath to the highe church of Chechester iiiid

It[e]m I geve and bequeath to the poore mens box of my p[ar]ishe iiis iiiid

It[e]m I geve and bequeath to the rep[ar]ac[i]ons of the church of CHILTINGTON xiid

It[e]m I geve and bequeath to THOM[A]S HUMFREY my s[er]vante a heffer bullock of six[?] yeare old to be deliv[er]ed to the sais THOMAS at the next Springe of the yeare

It[e]m I geve and bequeath to AGNES MASTER and JOHAN GOBLE my s[er]vants ech of them one ewe Lambe to be deliv[er]ed to them at the fest of St Make next ensuinge

Item I geve and bequeathe to ev[er]ye one of THOMAS [W?]ULVERIDGEs children an ewe lambe

It[e]m I geve and bequeath to my brother WILL[IA]M UMFREYE one heffer bullock of iii yeare old

It[e]m I geve and bequeath to JOHN my Sonne the Some of x£ and all such howshold stuffe as is in the howse of his coppie holde at STEPE WOOD also I give to the said JOHN a flockbedd & a Cov[er]let a pair of blankets a bolster and ii paire of shets and one fine shete w[i]th a blacke serge in the myddell and a pewter platter and ii pewter dysshes

It[e]m I geve and bequeath to my Sonne THOM[A]S the Some of x£ and v ewe sheppe, to the v ewe teggs that he hath alredie and a brasse pott and a great tryvett & twoe paire of shets a pewter platter ii pewter disshes and a harness girdell w[i]th a Sylv[er] buckle & ii the best pillowe cotes

It[e]m I geve and bequeath to my Sonne ROGER the Some of xx£ and the best fetherbedd & ii paire of shets a pewter platter ii pewter dysshes

It[e]m I geve and bequeath to RAYNOLD my Sonne the Some of xxi?£

It[e]m I will that my childrens stocks shalbe deliv[er]ed unto them when they comyth to the age of xxti years

It[e]m that yf it happen any of my said children to dye before they come to their full age of xxti years that then my will is the survivor of him or them so dep[ar]ted to have the stocks or legacs of him or themso dep[ar]ted to be equallie devided amonge them yt doe remaine alive by the dyscrec[i]on of my ov[er]seers

It[e]m I geve and bequeathe to MARGARET my wife the lease of BOWLYS LANDES during her lyfe And yf it happen the said MARGARET my wife to dye before the said lease of BOWLEYS LANDES be expired that then my will is the said lease to remaine to ROGER and RAYNOLD my children to be equallie devyded betwen them bothe by the dyscrec[i]on of my ov[er]seers

It[e]m I will that MARGARET my wife shall have the […?] of the coppy hold of my sonne THOMAS at a Reasonable rent untill the said THOM[A]S comyth to the age of xxit years as longe as she kepethe hir self a wyddowe And yf the said MARGARET my wife happen to marie before my sonne THOM[A]S comyth to the age of xxti years that then my Will is that my Sonne THOM[A]S to have as muche p[ro]fitt of his coppie hold as it is worth at the uttermost

It[e]m I will that MARGARET my wife shall have the occupying[?] of my childrens stocks as longe as she kepeth hir self a wyddowe until they comyth to the age of xxti years. And yf it happen MARGARETT my wife to marie before my said children come To thage of xxti years That then my will is that the said MARGARET my wife to be bounde w[i]th Sufficience to my ov[er]seers to se my said legacs paid to my said children when they comyth to the age above said or else my said childrens legacs to be at the order of my ov[er]seers Accordinge to this my Will

The resydewe of all my goods not bequeathed I comytt to MARGARET my wife whom I make & ordaine my Sole Executrixe and she to se my legacs paid And my last Will and Testamernt fulfilled and kepte and I doe ordaine and make WILL[IA]M SMYTH and THOM[A]S PRATT als COWPER of the p[ar]ishe of CHILTINGTON and JOHN PENFOLD of BYLLINGESHURSTE my ov[er]seers of this my last Will and Testamente and they to have for their paines taking vis viiid a pece besides their costs and charges.
