Will of Edward Blaker of Portslade

In the name of God Amen the sixteenth daye Julye in ye yeare of our Lorde 1594 I Edward Blaker of Portslade in the Countie of Sussex yeoman beinge sicke in bodie but whole in mynde and in good and pfecte remembrance (laud and prayse be given to Almightie God) make and ordaine this my presente Testament contayninge herein my laste will in manner and forme followinge. Viz. First I commende my soule unto Allmightye God and my bodie to be buried in the pishe churcheyard of Portslade aforesaid. Item I give and bequeathe ..... churche? of Chichester? vid. Item I give and bequeathe to Edwarde Blaker my sonne sixe oxen and two horses, two .... and one plowe, yoakes, chaines and all other implements therto belonginge and three score sheepe and three quarters of wheate and sixe quarters of barlye to be delivered unto him wthin one moneth nexte after my decease. Item I give and bequeathe unto John Blaker my sonne three score powndes of lawfull Englishe money to be payde and delivered unto him wthin one yeare next after my decease. Item I give and bequeathe to Thomas Blaker my sonne three score powndes of lawfull Englishe money to be paide and delivered unto him at the age of twentye and one yeares. Item I give and bequeathe unto Henrye Blaker my sonne thirtye powndes of lawfull Englishe money to be paid and delivered unto him at the age of twentye and one yeares. Item I give and bequeathe to Christian Blaker my daughter fortye powndes of lawfull Englishe money to be paid and delivered unto her at the age of twentie and one yeares or at the daye of her mariage. Item I give and bequeathe unto Anne Blaker my daughter fortye powndes of lawfull Englishe money to be paide and delivered unto her at thage of twentye and one yeares or at the daie of her mariage provided allwayes that yf it shall please God to take to his mercye anie of these my sonnes before the tyme mencyoned or before they come to the age of twentye & one yeares or either of my daughters before they come to the age of twentye and one yeares or the severall daye or dayes of theire mariage or mariages that then the parte porcon or legacye given or bequeathed unto them in this my laste will shalbe equallye devided amongste the rest of my children then beinge and remayninge alive. Item I give and bequeathe to everie one of my servannts one yewe and a lambe. All the reste and residue of my goodes my debts paide legacies fulfilled and my funerall expenses discharged I give and bequeathe to Anne Blaker wife to me the said Edwarde Blaker whome I make and ordaine my full sole and lawfull executrixe of this my laste will and Testamente soe that shee orderlye enter into such reasonable bond wthin one moneth after my deathe (as shalbe ..... unto her to seale by my overseers for her accomplysment and pforming of this my will accordinge to the true meaninge thereof wch? (wth?) onelye (upon anye controversie thereabout growinge shalbe accepted and reputed by all and everie person clayminge benefyte thereby as my overseers before said or the more pte of them shall iudge and determyne. And I ordaine and make for my overseers of truste here unto my lovinge friendes William Lane of Lewes gent, Richarde Scrase of Blatchington gent and Henrye Hall of Portslade yeoman. And for theire paynes takinge in this behalfe I give and bequeathe unto everie one of them sixe shillinges eighte pence.
