Notes:

To the KING'S Most Excellent Majesty. The humble Address of the Inhabitants of the Borough of New Shoreham, in the County of Sussex. Most Gracious Sovereign, WE, your Majesty's most dutiful and loyal Subjects, the Inhabitants of the Borough of New Shoreham, most humbly beg Leave to present our unfeigned Congratulations on your Majesty's Escape from the late daring and wicked Attempt against your Majesty's sacred Life and Government, as well as to express our Abhorrence and Detestation of the diabolical Motives which actuated those desperate Traitors. Inspired with Reverence for those Virtues which so eminently distinguish your Royal Character, and impressed with a due Sense of the many and great Blessings we have enjoyed under your Majesty's just and mild Government, we are particularly solicitous to give your Majesty the strongest Assurances of our inviolable Attachment; and we make it our most earnest Prayer to that Almighty Power (whose Mercies we so lately experienced) that he will continue to guard and protect your Majesty's sacred Life ; that whenever the traitorous Arm may be raised against it his Goodness may arrest the murderous Weapon from the Assassin's Hand, and turn the meditated Mischief on himself. At the Request of every Householder within this Borough. (Signed) George Tate, High Constable of the Borough of New March 26, 1803. Shoreham. [Presented by Sir Cecil Bisshopp, Bart, one of the Representatives in Parliament for the said Borough. ].
