Will of Mary Briggs of Horsham

Date signed: 07 Apr 1705, Probate date: 01 Jun 1706

In the name of God Amen I Mary Briggs of Horsham in the County of Sussex being well stricken in years and sick in Body but of good and perfect mind and memory thanks be to God for the same doe make and ordaine this to be my last Will and Testament in manner and forme as hereafter followeth (hereby revoking and making void all former Wills and Testaments by me at any time heretofore made) And first I comend my soule into the hands of Almighty God my maker and unto Jesus Christ my redeemer by whose death and passion I verily hope to be saved and my Body I remitt to the Earth from whence it came to be Buried in Decent manner to expect a Glorious Resurrection at the Last day Item I give and bequeath unto John Briggs of Horsham aforesaid cooper my son the sume of Twelve pence of Lawfull Money of England Item I give and bequeath unto Ann Oliver my grandchild the sume of forty shillings of lawfull money of England and to all the rest of my grandchildren the sume of twelve pence apeece of lawfull money of England to be paid unto them when they shall demand it Item I give and bequeath unto Mary Yokehurst Wife of Joseph Yokehurst my Daughter all and singular my Goods and Household Stuff in my now Dwelling House in Horsham aforesaid Except my best feather Bed feather Bolster Bedstead and all other things belonging to the saaid Bedd the Sidermill and all things thereunto belonging and all my ginger and vinegar vessells the said Mary Yokehurst my daughter paying one full halfe part of my Funerall Expences and one full halfe part of the Legacies before by me given and one full halfe parte of the charges my Executors shall be aboute proving this my Will and other matters relating to the same and Lastly I doe ordaineConstitute and make Thomas Briggs of Horsham aforesaid my Son full and sole Executor of this my Will and Testament to whom I give and bequeath all the remainder of my Goods Chattells and personall Estate Whatsoever not before given or bequeathed he paying my Debts half my Legacies and funerall expences According to the trust intent and meaning of this my Will In Witness whereof I the said Mary Briggs have hereunto set my hand and seale the Seventh Day of Aprill Anno Dm 1705 Signed Mary Briggs her mark and seale
