Custom-house, London, August 11, 1764. Whereas on Monday the 6th Day of this Instant August, William Wenham, of Pavensea in the County of Sussex, Labourer, and William Wenham and George Wenham, of Hoe in the said County, Labourers, (who stood committed to Lewes Gaol for a violent Assault and Obstruction of John Wood and, other Officers belonging to the Custom-house Boat of Seaford in the Port of Newhaven, in the Execution of their Duty) broke the said Gaol, and made their Escape. The Commissioners of His Majesty's Customs, in order to bring the Offenders to Justice, do hereby promise a Reward of Fifty Pound's to any Person or Persons who shall discover and apprehend, or cause to be discovered and apprehended, the said Offender or Offenders, or either of them, to be paid by the Receiver-General of His Majesty's Customs Upon Conviction.
