In the name of God Amen the twelth day of Marche in the Seaventh yeare of the Reigne of our most gratious Soverringne Lord James by the grace of God of England Frannce and Ireland Kinge Defender of the faithe c(hur)ch and of Scotland the Three and Forteth I John Holybone the elder of Haylsham in the Countie of Sussex and Diocesse of Chichester being sicke and weake of bodye but of Sounde and p(er)fect memorie thanks be to god, Doe make and ordaine this my last will and Testament in manner and forme followinge Firstly Commende and bequeath my _______ Soule into the hands of allmighty God my most mercifull Saviour and Redeemer trustinge only through his death and passion to heavenfull? pardon and remission of my sinnes And my Body I will to the earth to be Christianlike buried in the Churchyard of Hailsham aforesaid Item I geve Unto the poor people of the parishe aforesaid Ten shilling to be Destributed unto them by myne Executrix hereafter named at the Daye of my Buriall Item I give to the repara (reparations) of the Church of Haylsham Three Shillings foure pence Item I geve unto Roberte Hollybone the sonne of my brother Robert Hollybone Deceased Forty shillings to be paide unto him within two yeares next after my Decease Item I geve unto Elizabeth Breser? the daughter of my said Brother Roberte Forty Shillings to be paide unto her within two yeares next after my decease Item I geve unto Joane Hollybone also Daughter of the said brother Forty Shillings to bee paide unto her within two yeares next after my Decease Item I geve unto Thomas Pickham the sonne of my sister Joane Deceased Fortye Shillings to be paide unto hym within two yeares next after my Decease Item I geve unto Edward? Pickham the sonne of the Joane Fortye Shillings to be paied unto hym within two yeres next after my decease Item I geve unto Mary Bennett the daughter of my brother William Hollybone Deceased Fortye Shillings to bee paide unto her within two yeares next after my decease Item I geve unto Miles Bennett the Sonne of the said Marye Bennett Twenty Shillings to be paide unto hym in manner and forme as aforesaid Item I geve unto John Hollybone the sonne of my brother Lawrence Hollybone deceased Forty Shillings to bee paide unto him in manner and forme aforesaid Item I geve unto Sara Cruttenden the daughter of my brother Richard Hollybone deceased Forty Shillings to bee paide unto her in manner and forme aforesaid Item I geve unto Alice Summer the daughter of the said Sara Forty Shillings to bee paid unto her in manner and forme aforesaid Item I geve unto Agnes Kenchley my servante Forty Shillings to bee paide as aforesaid Item I geve unto John Hollybone William Hollybone Stephen Hollybone and Marye Hollybone the children of my coson John Hollybone deceased to eache of them Forty Shillings apeece to bee paide unto them in manner and forme aforesaid Item I geve unto Robert Hollybone the sonne of my brother Richard Hollybone deceased Twenty Shillings to bee paide unto him as aforesaid Item I geve unto Abraham Maisters one sheepe Item I geve unto Richard Kensley and Robert Painter my lovinge friends and eyther of them my full power and authoritie To putt to sale and sell the reversion? of remainder of the howse and backeside with the two Crofts of Lande ther unto belonginge and the money arysing upon the same sale To paye yf over unto my Executrix hereafter named takinge sufficent securitie of her for her payment and the satisfaction of my Debts and Legacies aforegiven Provided allwaies That if my Executrix happen to dye before the two yeares aforelymited for the sale of my said house backe side and land aforesaid wherby a greate sume of money wilbe raysed _________ the sale of the premisses That the Overplus above the Thirtie pounds in Legacies before given shalbe _________ distributed and divided betweene the sixteene p(er)sons aforenamed All the rest of my goods and moveable not before given nor bequeathed I give and bequeath unto Margery my lovinge wife whom I make the whole and sole Executrix of this my last will and Testament And I ordaine the said Richard Kenchley and Robert Painter to bee the Overseers of this my last will and Testament To see the same to bee p(re)formed according to the true meaninge to _______ and effect therof And I give unto Eache of my said Overseers Tenn Shillings apeece for their paines this I finishe and conclude my last will and Testament in manner and forme aforesaid in Wittnes whereof I the said John Hollybone the Testator _____ this presentes will have sett my hande and Seale the daye and yeare first above written Testament of John Hollybone the Testator present at the Makinge Readinge and examininge of this present will William French and Thomas (M or W)____ ^ Church Curat of Haylsham the marke of William French
