Will of William Durrant of Chichester

In the name of God Amen I William Durrant of the City of Chichester in the County of Sussex dyer being sick in body but of sound minde & memory praised be God doe make & ordaine this my last Will and Testamt in manner & forme following. First I give & bequeath unto my loving sonne Symon Durrant of Fitleworth in the said County dyer all that my freehold mesuage or tenement scituate on the north side of the West Street of the said City of Chichester to have and to hold the said mesuage or tenem’t unto the said Symon Durrant & his heirs forever. And my will & meaning is that my said mesuage or tenem’t shalbe valued by my executors hereafter named & that my said sonne Symon shall pay himselfe the moneys due to him upon a mortgage wch he hath upon the said mesuage or tenem’t. And all the overplus wch shall arise upon the sale or vallue thereof I will should be equally divided among my children (that is to say) my daughters Massey?, Elizabeth, Hanah & my sonne Daniel & all the rest of my goods & chattles to be likewise equally divided amongst them after my debts & funerall expences paid & discharged. Item I give & bequeath all my working tools to my sonne Daniel towards binding him out an apprentis. Item I doe make & ordaine my sonne Simon Durrant executor of this my last will and Testam’t. And doe appoint my very good freinds William Smyth of Chichester & William Smyth of Ashling to be overseers of this my last Will & doe pray them to take care to see the same truly? pformed. In witnes whereof I have hereunto set my hand & seal the ninth day of April in the year of our Lord one thousand six hundred seaventy and eight. The mark of William Durrant.
