War Office, 30th October 1918, His Majesty the KING has been graciously pleased to approve, of the award of the Distinguished Conduct Medal to the undermentioned Warrant Officers, Non-Commissioned Officers, and Men, for gallantry and distinguished service in the field:— 200172 Sjt. S. A. Constable, R. Suss. R. (West Heathley). For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. He collected and organised a company under heavy shell and machine-gun fire after all the officers in the neighbourhood had become casualties. By his utter disregard of danger and continued cheerfulness he set a splendid example to the men and inspired all with a feeling of confidence in the success of the advance.
