Whitehall, January 31, 1903. The KING has been graciously pleased to grant unto Edward Maximilian Bethune, of Denne Park, in the parish of Horsham and county of Sussex, Gentleman, eldest surviving son of Charles Bethune, late of Worth, in the said county of Sussex, Gentleman, by Ann Isabella Mary, his wife, daughter of James Eversfield, of Denne Park aforesaid, Esquire, and sister of Charles Gilbert Eversfield, of Denne Park aforesaid, Esquire, all deceased, His Royal licence and authority that he may take and use the surname of Eversfield in lieu of that of Bethune, and may take and bear the arms of Eversfield quarterly with his own family arms, and that such surname and arms may in like manner be taken, borne, and used by his issue; the said arms being first duly exemplified according to the Laws of Arms, otherwise the said Royal licence and permission to be void and of none effect: And to command that the said Royal concession and declaration be recorded in His Majesty's College of Arms.
