In the name of God Amen the twenteth daye of January one thowsand sixe hundred and twelve I Anthony Durrant of Estgrinsted in the Countie of Sussex pott fownder being sick in body but of pfect mynde and remembrance thancks be given to Allmightie God doe ordayne and make this my last will and Testament in manner and forme followinge. First and principally I bequeath my soule to Allmightie God my Creator and Redeemer and my body to be buried in the church yarde of Estgrinsted aforesaid. Item I give unto the poore of the pishe of Estgrinsted five shillings of lawfull money of England. Item I give and bequeath unto my sonne Richard Durrant tenn poundes of lawfull money of England to be paid unto him by my executor wthin one whole yeare next after my decease. Allsoe I give unto him more one chest wch the said Richard comonly hath used. Item I give and bequeath unto Anthony Durrant one other of my sonnes tenn poundes the like lawfull money to be paid unto him by my executor at the aige of one and twentie yeares. Allso I give unto him more one cowe collered redd wth some white uppon her. Allso I give unto him more one ioyned chest wch is wth out henges. Item I give and bequeath unto John Durrant one other of my sonnes tenn poundes the like lawfull money to be paid unto him also by my executor at the aige of one and twentie yeares. Also I give unto him more one other chest wch is called the Buckinge Chest. Item I give and bequeath unto Franncis Durrant one other of my sonnes tenn poundes the like lawfull money to be paide by my executor unto my overseers for him wth in one moneth next after my decease. And the same tenn poundes to be put out by them untill he come to the age of one and twentie yeares. And then my overseers to pay the same tenn poundes unto my said sonne Franncys. And my said sonne Franncys to be brought upp by my executor untill he come to the age of one and twentie yeares. And the profitt of the tenn poundes to be paid yearely as it arriseth unto my executor for and towardes the bringinge of hym upp untill he be of full age. Itm I give unto him more one table cubboarde. Item I give and bequeath unto Katheryn Durrant my daughter tenn poundes of lawfull money of England to be paid unto her by my executor wth in one yeare next after my decease or at the daye of her marriadge wch shall first happen. Alsoe I give unto her more one joyned chest wch was her mothers chest. Item I give and bequeath unto Martha Durrant one other of my daughters tenn poundes the like lawfull money to be paid unto her by my executor allso wth in one yeare next after my decease or at her daye of marriadge wch shall first happen to be. Alsoe I give unto her more one cowe coullered redd wth a white starr in the foreheadd. Also I give unto her more one feather bedd wch shee useth to lye on wth a bolster tick unfilled and the greatest ioyned chest in the chamber wheare I use to lye. Also I give and bequeath unto Elizabeth Durrant one other of my daughters tenn poundes the like lawfull money to be paid by my executor unto my overseers for her wthin one moneth next after my decease. And the same tenn poundes to be put out by them untill she come to the age of one and twentie yeares. And then my said overseers to paye the said tenn poundes unto my said daughter Elizabeth. And shee to be brought upp by my executor untill she be of full age. And the profitt of the same tenn poundes to be paid yearely as it aryseth unto my executor for and towardes the bringinge of her upp. Item I give unto her more a payer of sheetes wch are hoock seamed. And furthermore I give and bequeath all the residewe of my lynnen exceptinge three payer of sheetes more unto my said three daughters. And the same lynnen to be equally devided betweene my said three daughters by my overseers. Also I give unto them more all the pewter to be likewise equally devided betweene them by my overseers. Also my mynde and will is that all the brasse vessells and iron vessells wch are in the howse to be equally devided betweene all my said sonnes and daughters. And if it happen that any of my said sonnes or daughters do die before that they accomplish their full ages or dayes of marriadge that then their pte or porcons so beinge dead shalbe equally devided amongest all my sonnes and daughters livinge. All the residue of my goodes and chattles ungiven and bequeathed my detts paide and funerall discharged I give and bequeath unto Humfrey Durrant my sonne whome I ordayne and make my executor of this my last will and Testament. And I doe appoynte my very good freindes and neighbors Thomas Dungatt and Richard Homewood my overseers of this my last will and Testament and they to have for their paynes two shillings a peece. (Latin)This Will was proved at London before the Rev Edmund Pope, Doctor of Laws, Surrogate of the Rev John Benet, Doctor of Laws, Master Keeper or Commissary of the Prerogative Court of Canterbury 24 February by the computation of the Church of England 1612 by Humfrey Durrant the natural son of the said deceased and the executor named in the said Will to whom was granted admon &c &c
