NOTICE is hereby given, That about Four of the Clock in the Morning of the 10th of April instant, a Man, unknown to me, about Five Feet Six Inches high, pretty well set, had on a dark round Frock and a small round Hat, came to my Dwelling-House in East Grinstead in Sussex, knocked at my Door, and, on my opening the same, told me he was come to give me Information of smuggled Goods being laid up behind the Cock ; and at the same Instant five or six more Men, armed with large Sticks or Bludgeons, seized me by the Throat, bound me Hand and Foot, struck me several Times on the Head, and then rescued and took out of my said Dwelling-House fifteen Bags and an Half of Tea, and also one Dollop of Tea, weighing together about four Hundred and twenty-four Pounds, which said Tea I had taken from Smugglers : One other of the said Persons bad on a blue Surtout Coat, was very tall, and of thin Visage ; one other of the said Persons had on a dark brown Surtout Bath Coat, was about five Feet five Inches high, pitted by the Small Pox, and had dark brown Hair : The other Persons I cannot give any Description of.
