WHITEHALL, February 19, 1859. The Queen has been graciously pleased to give and grant unto Charles Tooke, of Hurston Clays, in the parish of East Grinstead, in the county of Sussex, Esquire, and of the Middle Temple, London, Barrister-at-Law, in the Commission of the Peace for the said county of Sussex, Her royal licence and authority that he and his issue may take, and henceforth use the surname of Chevall, in addition to, and before that of Tooke, and quarter the arms of Chevall with those of his own family ; the said arms being first duly exemplified according to the laws of arms, and recorded in the Heralds' Office, otherwise the said royal licence and permission to be void and of none effect: And further to command that the said royal concession and declaration be recorded in the College of Arms.
